Wow... long time no write, eh? I couldn't let Paul, Matty, and others show me up! And, this was about the last thing I could think of doing to continue to procrastinate on the paper I'm supposed to be writing. A couple of things:

Shoutouts!
Happy Birthdays to Mickey Dupont who celebrated his birthday on Saturday, and Laurie Brown whose is tomorrow (Monday). Mickey, Taryn, and I celebrated his in Baton Rouge on Saturday which was a much needed study break for me, and I got to see both Mickey and Laurie (at District Convention) which was great. Also shoutout to Jess (those old school CKI'ers will know exactly who I mean) who is visiting in town. Hopefully I'll get to see you!

School & Work:
My very drawn-out and long education (I was on the 6 year plan) is finally coming to an end. Yes, this time I don't lie- I keep saying "May" but I actually have a date now: May 14, 2005. I ordered a gazillion announcements (my parents never thought they'd see the day) so let me know if you would like one/don't get one, etc. It's basically better than my wedding for them. A pretty big production, and I get to go on a cruise a few weeks after graduation. Yay!
Along with being a student, I also have a pretty nice yet very expensive apartment- so one must struggle to pay, of course, RENT. So- I am working full time at Performance MotorCar Gallery & Performance Subaru- a car dealership and repair shop. I work in Service, and am pretty much doing the work of Service Writer, Cashier, and Parts Clerk all rolled into one. Luckily we just hired a new girl, which is good- because my dad will be out for several weeks with knee surgery at which point I get to become Service Manager, Parts Manager, and HR as well.

Fun, Fun, Fun!
I'm pretty tired most of the time, from working 9-6 everyday and going to class everynight from 6-10 (except Wednesdays)- but I've still found some time for fun. Taryn and I are enjoying the new apartment (we've lived here since December, but it still feels new) and I'm really happy we chose this one over the others. If anyone wants to come visit, let us know! Several of you still haven't seen the new place. This city is starting to have more fun and unique things to do, including a Pink Floyd Laser show at the Planetarium in Rivertown (highly reccomended), $6, and a Improv comedy show on Friday nights at 10:30 at Martine's Lounge on Metairie Road (very highly reccomended), $8. Also, we managed to see all 5 Oscar Nominated Best Films (the first time I've ever been able to do that). If you haven't seen Million Dollar Baby yet, you absolutely need to. I've never ever ever cried that much at a movie in my life!

K-Family??
Wow... never thought I'd hear those words out of my mouth again. So yes, I've sorta been boycotting Circle K for the past year or so. Part of this has tremendously to do with the fact that I'm growing up. I work full-time, go to sch0ol part-time, and NEED to graduate. School was put on hold for CKI, now it's got to be the other way around. I just don't have time for meetings anymore. Part of this has to do also with the fact that I'm now in the class of "old hasbeens" who know their place. We still enjoy events, we just know that it will never be the same as the way we remember it. It's good in ways, bad in others. Bittersweet, I guess. And part of my Kiwanis vacation has to deal with the fact that I got burned badly by a great number of people during and following my year as Governor, and it's taken me a very very long time to get over that. I blame no one but circumstance, but still- people need to heal. I did not want to go to District Convention this past weekend, which felt weird- because it would be the first time in 6 years that I hadn't attended every single event... but Mickey and Taryn dragged me to the picnic. I'm very glad I went. Good to see a lot of new faces I didn't recognize- even better to see old faces I did. It provided some much needed closure, in a strange way.

Congratulations to Lauren & her board-- I can't say that I know too much about what they did, but I know how hard it is and I definitely think anyone that goes through that deserves some sort of gratitude. Congratulations also to the newly elected: Jenny Wells, new Governor, Ralph Johnson(new S/T) and all of the LTGs. It's weird to know that they won't be needing my help. On a sidenote, Jenny is the 3rd female Governor in a row, from Gulf Coast. I started a Trend! Woohoo!

Finally... I'm busy with school, but in a few weeks I'll be scoping out Kiwanis clubs. I miss the service so much. Any suggestions?
