As much as I'm usually the fan of color- I must say that although this new blogger style is cool... it leaves me with way too many options. So, when I'm ready to write- I lose track of what I'm saying when I'm distracted by elements of style. But... here's a psuedo wrap-up of my post from last week, or whenever that was-- plus some details that are important for today: Work & Stuff: I'm out of work, out of work... it's very cool not having to wake up at 8am anymore, and it's pretty neat being able to get errands done that I haven't been able to get- but it is getting sort of boring, and the cash flow thing doesn't help either. But I will be returning to my lovely job come September, and it's a perfect time to take off because of traveling... Health & Stuff: As some of you know, I went to the Emergency Room, and then ended up going to see an internal medicine doctor shortly after that. There's three possibilities for what's going on with my body... 1) I have Gallbladder Sludge, which we say because I have no gallstones that are visible yet, but it really does seem to be a typical scenario for gallbladder problems because of the abdominal pain (underneath & to the right of my ribcage), and acid reflux. 2) I have an ulcer, which wouldn't completely surprise me because I've had a really stressful year this past year, and it hurts when I eat certain things, (or fail to eat completely), or 3) I'm some sort of alien mutant and I need to go back for more tests, probably GI tests. But, I'm breathing, and I feel okay- and I'm healthy... so no worries, although it would be nice to have a concrete diagnosis. Lily, the Kitten: Last night, my kitten who is 5 months old (this is the rescue that Alison's friend Chantel hooked me up with, a gift to my mom because her last cat never returned home), snuck outside. Nothing new for her, she's an extremely tough street-cat, and is the type to steal everyone's food & pick fights with everyone because she knows she will win. From 10 last night to 10 this morning we wondered where she was, occaisionally looking for her. Finally I heard the saddest meow, and I knew it was her. After minutes of searching & following the noise, I found her.. outside... smushed between the fence & the house. Apparently she had been trapped there for HOURS. I took her to the vet.. and it was so creepy to see her in shock, pupils dilalated, sad meow- and completely limp back legs. She is paralyzed from the waist down- and is spending all night at the animal hospital. Please pray for her-- she has no reflexes at all, and if she does not begin to show movement in the back legs they will have to put her to sleep. She clearly knows that she is in trouble, and adamantly insists on survival (she's eating, and trying to move)-- but I don't know that I want her to continue to live in pain. Hopefully tomorrow she will improve.. Also, please cross your fingers that we will find the money to pay for this somehow, we just took the dog to this same hospital 3 weeks ago- ie, no payment plan this time. Summer Rally: I was supposed to leave for New York next Sunday, but I moved it up seeing as how I'm a Circle K "member in bad standing" & therefore am not "allowed" at Summer Rally. My big F-U from the District Board is something that I will not dwell on, because it's done with- but it's not a situation that I want to make worse, which- showing up at a District event would most certainly do. To those that planned Rally, I wish you the best event possible, and I'm truly sorry that I am not able to see it. To everyone else, I'll be gone for awhile, and I'll miss you all. For those who are interested, here's the schedule: Travel Itinerary: Thursday-following Friday (July 31-Aug 6)- I'll be in New York, courtesy of my Grandma. We go every year, and this will be a great vacation to get my mind off of things. Friday-Sunday - (Aug 6-8) - I'll be with my Dad & racing crew in Dallas, hoping to help him win the big one this time. This round of drag racing is nationally televised- so check it out, if you can find the channel. The track is in Ennis, TX. Monday-Monday (August 9-16th) - My mom scored an all expense paid trip to Orlando.. one of those scam deals where you have to go to a presentation/seminar on time-shares, but everything else checked out legit. They are paying for tickets, a condo complete with kitchenette & groceries, and some other stuff. Again, a very cool vacation opportunity. Special Note: To those of you that are interested-- I heard that WB is starting a new show, premiering this Thursday. The Blue Collar Comedy Tour guys (Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, and Bill Engvall), excluding "Tater Salad" - have their own show, called Blue Collar TV!!!! Here's the link, to the official WB site: http://www.thewb.com/Shows/Special/0,11116,171990%7C%7C,00.html I will already be en route to NY, so if anyone can tape this for me, I would really appreciate it. Thanks! Rebecca at 9:38 PM LOTS OF NEWS TO REPORT TODAY! Sorry it's been so long since I've posted.. I've just been really busy. Here are some recent updates: I've become Michelle! No.. not in the fact that I'm scrapbooking 24/7, or in the fact that I have a re-established purse obsession. I'm talking about the fact that I am continuing to take in pets! First there was Daisy, my loyal & faithful pup that I've had for 5 years. Then, there was Willie- the maine coon cat that is now missing. In Willie's place, we adopted Lily as an Easter/Mother's day present for my mom. So now, if that isn't enough- my dad brought home two new little baby kittens who were starving and half-dead. And of course, since they were half-dead and terrorized, we can't separate them. Of Course. As aggravating as it was that he just dropped them off at our house and said "Here," I have to admit the little suckers have grown on me. You can view the pictures here: Kittens The girl is the one with the black & tan spots (did you know only females can be calico's?) And the boy has black & white. The girl's name was easy. She is beautiful, fragile, and has a little scrunched up face, so Rose was the perfect choice. (we now have Rose, Lily, and Daisy for an entire garden!) The boy has been named and renamed Hero & Captain & Jack.. but we still don't have a good one. He is an explorer, and a tough guy- and protects his sister. Anyone have any suggestions? My Hospital Visit I know I'm a bit of a hypochondriac at times.. but I've been having this horrible abdomen pain. Might be my gallbladder. Went to the hospital yesterday- they don't know. Have to go back again on Monday. I intended for this post to be longer but I'm @ work and have to go... I will write again soon! -Rebecca Rebecca at 11:58 AM Want $25? I just got a free savings account from ING, and I'm already in love with it. I'm trying not to rush into anything, so I only deposited $5, but I completely am satisfied so far. Here's why: 1) No fees to start it, & you don't have to keep a minimum balance (at Hibernia, it's $300 and they bill you if it gets below that). 2) A 2.10% annual percentage yeid, which (maybe some of you could help me with) is pretty good, I think. 3) Very easy- takes 5 minutes to sign up, and you can transfer the funds out of your primary checking (and back into, if you need to later, with maximum of 7 times a month.) 4) GREAT customer service. There's a phone# to call if you would rather the automated service, there's a phone# to call if you'd like a person. And there are actually people who answer! Score! (DEFINITELY not like Hibernia!) So... the cool thing is that I can refer up to 25 people, and you get $25 free for signing up (no strings attached), which I didn't get cause no one refered me, but I get $10 also off of each of you. So we all win! So, let me know if you're interested, and I will send you the link. I think you have to wait 30 days or so before you can take your money, but you probably can just transfer it out back into your bank.. or, let it sit and earn some interest! Circle K International Convention It's such a bummer to not be in St. Louis right now. Honestly, a part of me felt weird going, because most of the people I consider my close friends have already graduated- and I'm pretty old myself (5 1/2 years now). But, this is my first year in 5 that I haven't been to convention- how odd! I really do feel bad about not being able to go at the last minute & inconveniencing everyone, but I really couldn't afford it and I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles.... There are a lot of friends (past-Governors & such) that I was really looking forard to seeing, and I hope they are having fun.. and there are several people I worked closely with last year who are running for office, including Troy (governor council chair), Morgan (gov council secretary), Katherine (my Governor buddy), Katherine (sister district), and Doug (my trustee)- so I wish them all good luck! I guess me not being there FINALLY puts an end to the whole me running for office thing, thank God! :) That's it! Enjoy your weekends, & Happy 4th of July! Rebecca at 8:52 AM | |
