Week (So Far) In Review I know it's not the end of the week, but it certainly feels like it. I've been very busy, doing double duty. For those of you who don't know- my dad is the Parts/Service Manager at a local car dealership, and typically he has a Parts man underneath him but that person has been let go. The only other person who has been trained for that job in the past 5 years who is still in the country just happens to be me. So- I'm doing my dad a favor by working there (which, no lie, it helps me too- and I could certainly use the extra income). BUT- I already have a job which I've committed to, and which I love- so I'm doing a juggling act. It's Performance (the dealership) from 8am-11:45, then to At your Service for 12-4, then back to Performance for 4:15-6. Luckily they are so close! But, it's getting to be a bit much. Maybe I'll feel better about it when my paychecks come!

E-Bay On top of that, I've been working hard every night making scrapbook pages, which isn't that much hard work because it's so much fun! My first page on E-Bay is selling currently for $3.26, which isn't a lot- but considering I'll make almost a $2.50 profit on my first ever selling attempt, that's not bad. I've had a couple of requests via e-mail too which is really flattering, I'm excited that people actually want the stuff I'm making. So, this gives me excuses to buy even more scrapbooking stuff!

American Idol For those of you who watched last night, you'll know that Diana gave 2 of the best and 1 of the worst performances of her life, and Fantasia gave one of the most hideous performances in the entire history of the competition followed by two of the most incredible performances.. ever. So what's my verdict? Fantasia by a landslide. I really liked Diana, and I was rooting for her (and still am), but she has a lot to learn. I know there has been controversy over the phones and voting, and of course it isn't entirely fair, but those cingular wireless text voting, dialing with 5 lines people certainly know what they're doing. Aside from Season 2, where Reuben should NOT have won- everyone always does a better job of picking the person who will sell the most records. That is the point of the competition. There is no way that Justin Guarini or Kimberly Locke or any of these people could have sold more records than Kelly Clarkson or Clay Aiken (who got jipped). Everyone realizes that when Clay's album sold more in one week than Reuben's did total. Diana is great- but in the grand scheme of things, she won't sell as much as Fantasia, and she needs to fix her lower register before she can even attempt to sing pop music. She's great at belting, but last I heard, this isn't Broadway Opera Idol. Uniqueness of voice is also another thing that needs to be looked at- if you hear Fantasia on the radio, you will know it's her. That's something I can say for Kelly and Clay, but not Reuben, Kimberly or Diana, let's face it folks.

Fantasia aggravates me sometimes "I'm a 19 year old single mother and therefore I really deserve this," or "Look at me, I'm good because I can BoBo!" - but otherwise, she really does have a unique talent and worked her butt off. I can only recall 2 bad performances compared to Diana's 4 or 5 throughout the entire thing. (Still much better than Jasmine's 8 or 9 bad performances and John Stevens' 10 or 11). You get the point.

I'd feel sorry for Diana, especially after last night's early victory call by Fantasia herself (a little cocky, eh?) and what's his face (the "My Way" guy) calling it, which was wholly inappropriate when he's there to be an unbiased form of entertainment, but I can't feel sorry for her- because either way, yesterday was "Dial for Diana day" in Georgia, and she will have a great career no matter what - at 16. But, she's not ready for this.. yet.

Moral of the story? Fantasia will win, and release one hell of a single (If she sings it the way she did last night in the studio, it will be sure to rake in tons of money for the Simon/Nigels). And I can't wait to watch Idol tonight!

Weekend Update

This weekend was pretty exciting- Friday night I just hung out with my Dad, and cousin at their Pad, Saturday brought Lauren's ballet recital (Congrats on a beautiful performance!) and Ted and Rick's Graduation Party (Congrats on a job well done!) Then it was off to see Shrek 2 with a group of friends, which was surprisingly great- and definitely up to all expectations of it.
Then it was back to Amanda and Ted's for some card games, and other excitement. Today was a day spent scrapbooking with the girls- and some hanging out at Hotel Minnesota. It was a pretty relaxing and productive weekend.

Another strange eBay Item

Once again, I have another strange eBay item to share with you all. The exciting thing though - is that this time I had a part in putting it up!! Lauren had the great item of auctioning off a spot at Magnum night, and Amanda, Matt, and I - among others, contributed to the ad.

DING DONG THE HIPPIE'S DEAD- WHICH OLD HIPPIE THE STUPID HIPPIE- DING DONG THE WICKED HIPPIE's DEAD- HE's GONE TO HUG A TREE- BLOW ME!

Woohoo! I am finally out of school, and am finally finished with exams. Appropriately, the last one was my stupid "Captain Planet" class , and the exam was perfectly consistent with the course load, meaning it was bullshit. I was really stressed out for the exam, as was everyone else- but when we got there two hours early to study, it was all okay. I must say I have NEVER heard a teacher sneeze and no one say "Bless you" (although they did for the other people who sneezed).. and I have never heard someone whisper "Blow me, Professor" while taking an exam. And would you believe- he gives us the exams, and then won't shut up the first twenty minutes? He just likes to hear himself talk, but it's hard when I'm trying to identify his propaganda bullshit as true or false.

Anyways, it's finally over and I'm very happy. If it doesn't rain, I might go out drinking with my classmates tonight...

THIS WEEKEND I'm off to Dallas this weekend with my dad for the first major drag racing event of the year. I don't usually go to these things, but it's been awhile since I've spent time with him- and this is supposed to be really fun. And, he's super excited because the car is going faster than ever. Week before last he did a 1/4 of a mile in 10.4 seconds. Rock on! Sorry that I can't make some of the parties and events that are going on- but I definitely will miss you guys. I'm also sad that I'm missing Relay for Life, as I would have liked to walk for my Grandmother- but I might be able to make one of the other ones in the city.

More E-Bay Fun So, I was looking on e-bay today for ideas on stuff I can sell as not to be so poor. Some dudes are selling Mardi Gras beads to poor unsuspecting saps for $20 a gross- so that's an option. But, I came across this: Mardi Gras Video 2004
That's right boys- this dude filmed his half naked women, took home the video, more than likely got caught with it by his wife or girlfriend, and is now selling it for the low price of $17.95.

Finally.. a Random Question.. Thanks to the boys of Hotel Minnesota, I've seen streets like Michigan, Missouri, Maine, I've driven past Delaware, and Idaho, and Kansas.. you get the idea. But there is NO Hawaii, and I'm pretty sure there is no Alaska. Why not? I'm assuming the subdivision was built (like the others were) in the 70s. Is there a law that streets can be named only after the 48 continental states??? :)
